Welcome to the July 2022 edition of the Skyzack newsletter. This month, we’re looking back at some of the events we visited for Macc Pride, sharing how to make the most of your Google Business Profile and more… Let’s jump right in, shall we?
Small Business Spotlight: The Monocle
The Monocle (previously Monocle Deli), is a vegetarian/vegan café in Macclesfield offering delicious lunch, coffee and cakes. We enjoyed a moreish carrot cake on their opening day, and it was a pleasure to meet the new owners. A huge congratulations to Ash and Jim for bringing a great fresh start to this lovely, homely café. We’re sure it will continue to be one of our team’s favourite local spots for tasty treats and good vibes.
Do you have a Google Business Profile?
Think about the last time you Googled a service; anything from a local café to an HR specialist. One of the first things you see is a list of companies providing that service in your area, all of whom have set up an account on Google Business Profile.
Google Business Profiles are important for all businesses, regardless of size or industry, looking for foot-traffic or website leads. By giving immediate information and increasing your local SEO, your business becomes more likely to be found by potential customers. Alongside this, your Google reviews give potential customers social-proof, which builds trust and credibility.
It’s important to keep your profile up to date, with business hours, contact details and other essential information. During Pride month, we updated the ‘attributes’ on our profile to include ‘LGBTQ+-friendly’, as it’s important to us that everyone feels welcome and safe.
We believe that Google Business Profiles are a must for independent businesses looking to stand out from the crowd. In addition to the profiles, Google offers free resources for small businesses to help them along the way.
If you haven’t set up your Google Business Profile yet, we’d highly recommend you do. However, if you need a hand, please feel free to get in touch.
Over the last couple of weeks, Macclesfield has been buzzing with Pride celebrations. Our town has shown love, power and support to the LGBTQ+ community and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting involved.
Firstly, we had a lovely time chatting with the Macc Pride team at their pop-up stall. It was clear to see how much everyone cared; they created a welcoming environment with lots of helpful information. Later in the week, we visited the Art and Photography exhibition at Peaks and Plains, where we saw great work from talented artists of all ages. Alongside the official events, we saw many local businesses getting involved in the support and celebrations. With Pride-themed cakes from Yas Bean, free photos at Rolph and Co., after-parties in Mash and so much more, the whole town truly stepped up.
Our team member Tuesday went along to the parade and the turn-out was incredible. Our small market town was full of people being proud to be who they are, families showing support and rainbow flags being held high. We hope everyone had an amazing day and we couldn’t be prouder of our wonderful town.
One last thing we need to mention…
July started with a bang with our wonderful Jess’s birthday!
We celebrated together with a meal at the recently renamed and revamped, Alfred’s, followed by cocktails at The Fountain. Jess took some well-deserved time off work later in the week and we hope they had a lovely time filled with cake, presents and laughs.
