Welcome to the January 2022 edition of the Skyzack newsletter, we hope you have had a great festive break, and a happy New Year.
Our team has been very excited to start this new year, so let’s get you brought up to date, and share what we’ve been up to.
Social Media Content Strategy for the New Year
We understand if you feel overwhelmed and stressed out about creating content that encourages follower interaction.
To help you with your social media strategy, we recently posted a blog about using customer personas to help create better targeted content for people you actually want to reach.
We have included a template below, and an example of how to use it as well in our blog.
If you are still unsure and would like us to help, please feel free to get in touch with us and we would be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Also, keep in the loop on our social media for more tips and tricks!
New year, new you?
Following on this, are you thinking of refreshing your branding for this New Year?
We understand the importance of business identity and the need to stand out amongst your competitors visually.
If this is something you are looking to do, we would be more than happy to help.
Working collaboratively with you, we can create you a branding kit that will be functional across several digital marketing channels such as websites, social media, etc.
Developing brand boards according to your brand vision as we’ve previously done so for Elizabeth Monk.
We created the mood board above to show off Elizabeth’s new logo, style and colour palette for her website.
Working closely with her, we put together a branding kit for her and her company.
Another design we worked on was Peter Gratton and a business card for his new business.
Peter wanted his business card to show off his vision and professional skills, so using a bright colour scheme, we created exactly that for him.
We understand that starting the year right is important, especially when it comes to your online presence. If you would like to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee, we’re here!
Spotlight on Pacha Mama
On the topic of new, the lovely Lois Hartwood has opened her own new store ‘Pacha Mama’ in Macclesfield.
Pacha Mama, combined with Hartwood Kitchens showroom, is filled with quirky and unique gifts.
From home décor, to many a healing crystal, their shop offers its customers a rejuvenating experience, so go and visit and support them yourselves.
Return to the Skyzack office
After the most recent restrictions here, we’ve all been working from home as of the last month or so.
But… after many a booster and lateral flow, we have all now begun our office return.
With the ‘National Fun at Work’ day coming up on the 28th, we’re pleased to be back in our co-working space, together.
And there we have it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. If you’d like to receive the Skyzack newsletter via email, or for anything else, please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Skyzack Spotlight: Gladwrags Website
This month we’re shining the spotlight on Cheshire based fashion boutique, Gladwrags. The ever-glamorous Mandy offers friendly and personalised styling advice (both online and in-person) to women of all ages, with a beautiful range of unique clothing and accessories. With over 39 years in the industry, Gladwrags is passionate about helping people find confidence and have fun through fashion.
Mandy came to Skyzack looking for a new website that better reflected the business, in line with their new branding and services. Fortuna has been working hard on a modern Shopify site that showcases Gladwrags pieces perfectly. The site has been designed with the user experience in mind, making it easy for customers to navigate and shop and for the Gladwrags team to update their stock.
Small businesses in Macclesfield:
We were thrilled to be invited to the recent opening of the pinkest new coffee shop in town, Yas Bean. Mika and his husband Dan started their business by selling coffees and cakes from their home during lockdown last year, and it’s since flourished into one of the most talked-about new places to open in our town. Since businesses have been opening again, we’ve noticed so many other amazing new small businesses in Macclesfield. Here’s a small list of places you should definitely check out. Please let us know your favourites and any that we’ve missed.
- Yas Bean – Coffee and cakes
- The Copper Room – Restaurant and cocktail bar
- The Fountain – Upcoming café and bar from The Bollington Brewing Company
- Pizzaz – Charcoal grill takeaway formerly known as ‘The Bay’
- Cakeface by James – Bakery and coffee shop
- Acacia Tree – Eco friendly cafe
- NV Beauty Salon – Nail and beauty lounge
- Fold Yoga – Yoga studio
Logos & Branding: PGM maintenance
Another great business we’ve worked with recently is start-up electrician and DIY rescue, Peter Gratton maintenance. Specialising in Bollington and the rest of the Happy Valley, they provide professional services with care and experience to homes, workplaces and more. Tuesday has been working closely with Peter on a unique logo and business card design that represents the business identity and allows him to expand his customer base. We wish him all the best with this next step and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Peter Gratton maintenance.

Supporting small this Christmas:
We can’t believe it’s nearly December! This year has gone by so fast, yet so slowly. We’re all yearning for some festivities and can’t wait to put up our trees with a glass of mulled wine, but things will be a little different this year.
Skyzack is passionate about supporting small businesses, pandemic or not, and know that Christmas is one of the most important times of the year for many. This in mind, we’ve put together some simple Christmas marketing tips to try to make things a little easier, along with information on how you can support your favourite Macclesfield businesses during lockdown and beyond.
Skyzack Spotlight: Arvika
This month, our Skyzack Spotlight is on a recently completed project for well-known Macclesfield based interiors company, Arvika. They combine their international experience and expertise with that of their worldwide contacts to bring luxury brands and unique pieces to discerning homes.
Fortuna worked closely with the owner to develop a new, e-commerce friendly website where they could begin selling online. Alongside, we provided training and ensured the site was user friendly to allow the Arvika team to make changes with ease. We thoroughly enjoy working with Arvika and wish them all the best with the new website.
Find out more about this project here.
COVID-19 Business Advice:
Back in May, we compiled the following list of some of the best business advice during the COVID-19 crisis. We’ve since added a few extra links, but please let us know of any more resources you’ve found helpful this year.

Best regards, The Skyzack Team
Whatever happens in the next few weeks, there’s no doubt that Christmas will be different this year. The festivities we’re used to will be put on hold, and with England in lockdown again, small businesses face yet another difficult month. It all seems very doom and gloom for the “happiest time of the year”, but it’s not all bad news!
The good news is that there’s been a big increase in online shopping this year, and a lot of that has been small businesses! Some of our favourite Macclesfield shops, cafes, and makers have been selling online (see our last blog) and we hope they’re able to continue to do so as much as they need/want.
However, Christmas is one of the most important times for small businesses, and a new website or occasional Facebook posts may not be enough. This in mind, the Skyzack team have put our heads together (socially distanced of course) to share some marketing tips for Christmas 2020.
1. Communicate clearly:
We can’t stress this one enough! With fast-paced changes becoming the norm, it’s so important to keep people informed. Try to keep clear, up-to-date information on your website, social media and Google listing, along with on your business premises window.
Openness and honesty are a must to create a positive experience for your customers, especially this year. Businesses may face extra issues such as staffing, stock levels and delivery delays, but transparency can build customer trust and instil your businesses values.
2. Use email marketing:
Newsletters are another great way to stay in touch, and to increase customer loyalty. By directly sharing any news, products, promos or just saying hello, your business can connect on a more personal level than some other digital methods allow.
3. Celebrate support & loyalty:
In a year where many are under huge financial stress, more people have been supporting small businesses in any way they can. Whether they’re ordering takeaways from your restaurant every week, sharing your social posts or writing a Google review, it all helps. Because of this, we think a genuine thank you message is a lovely idea this Christmas. Maybe even with personalised Christmas cards!
If you can, offering reward schemes or discounts are also great ways to show appreciation and boost loyalty whilst helping customers to cut costs.
4. Support fellow businesses:
Along with thanking those who support your business, remember to return the favour (both as a business and personally). You can share local gift guides and ideas on social and blogs, or even collaborate on a festive project.
Skyzack can help:
There are so many amazing small businesses in Macclesfield and Cheshire, and the Skyzack team is dedicated to supporting them as much as possible. For help with Christmas marketing, to collaborate, or for anything else, please feel free to get in touch. You can reach us through our contact form or call us on 01625 574111.
